The table in this photo has already sold, but we still have the 'Butler's Table' (old door with half table attached). Red does NOT seem to be a selling point, even tho it is the original paint and in crazygood condition. Curious. So, I am debating a paint job for it. Question is, what do I go with: a similar white, crisp black, or soft dove gray with a whitewash over it? It's gotta' be one of those to fit into the plan for Sunday at Sand Point, to coordinate with the Swedish/Danish/Euro-inspired decor theme we'll have goin' on.What do YOU think would be most popular? Leave your comments, then come by on Sunday and see what I decided to do with it! ;0)

Dove gray with white wash!!! I can't wait to see what the two of you come up with on Sunday!!! I have to sneak away from a house full to come see you after being up most of the night driving back from a concert at the gorge, but I AM going to be there...

Hi, love the idea of the door with the half table. I think the dove grey with a white wash would be nice or a more old world chateau chic color such as stone beige or chocolate milk would also be nice with a wash over it. I find that I too have to re-paint items in my store if it doesn't sell...the right color can make all the difference.

My vote is for the dove grey. I am so looking forward to the Sandpoint market and can't wait to see what fabulous items you have at your both. As always you are an inspiration!
Grey seems to be more and more popular now. Beautiful picture.
the gray definitely! The red is really cute. Sometimes you just don't know why something doesn't sell do you? Good luck this weekend. kath
Well everyone is saying grey but I was thinking black. I love the red myself. The grey doesn't really do it for me but since I'm in the minority here I wouldn't listen to me.
I personally love the red and with it being the original paint, you can't beat that. But, if you are going to paint it, go with gray.
I love that piece and vote dove gray.
Can't wait to see how it turns out.
I just found some equally fabulous old doors that I turned one into a chalk board and the other a mirror door to sell at my barn sale. Problem is they're amazing and I want to keep them for myself!
Debi-thanks for finding us and leaving such a wonderful comment! Personally I love red-but alas it does not sell-I am leaning toward dove gray with white wash. I am currently painting an old cupboard that someone in the recent past painted a shiny brown/red. I finally setteled on the color straw basket. PS I hate to paint!!!!
I would go with the soft gray and the whitewash because I think if you paint it paint you are going to basically get a similar look to the one you already have.
WOW! Thank you all for your input! I heard you loud and clear - and base coated the door in soft warm dove gray today, then I will add the whitewash to the detail areas tomorrow. It already looks like a totally different piece of furniture!
(And the gal who bought the matching red door-top table is going to paint it black. If not for your input, that's what I was going to do to this one!)
I for one love the red and wish you were in Georgia instead of way over there! The red door here in Bulldog country would be a major hit!
Since you feel you have to paint it I would go with the Dove Grey with white wash and I really can't wait to see what that turns out like.
Sometimes, neutral is best, so the gray should sell it! Waiting to see the final result.

I also think the dove gray with the whitewash would be fabulous, and give it a very sophisticated look.

I love both these tables, and it is the great red that puts them over the top. In fact I'm pretty sure I posted these tables (crediting you) a couple weeks ago. I ask for help finding a great red paint to get a similar look.
I can't wait until Sunday to see what you've decided to do!

i wish i could come by but i will say that i think the whitewashed dove gray is the ticket for this wonderful piece....but i see you already heard that loud and clear ;) it was great to see you on Saturday at tarte if only for the briefest of moments debi. good luck at the market....oh how i wish i were a bit closer so i could come!

I too love the red especially as it is original. I would tend to a brown wash over creamy white --but that is just me. Black is good too.
