Need a Little Retreat?

We are thrilled to announce our 'Petite Retreats':
intimate seasonal vintage markets, held here on our farm.

We've prepared one of our small barns as a shop/showroom,
opening one weekend each season to share Retreat Style with you.

Our first Petite Retreat will be held

Mother's Day Weekend
May 8 & 9
from 10 AM to 4 PM

This event is open to everyone,
so pass the news along - and bring friends!
{feel free to link to this image & post)

Several of our special friends will be joining us for this Spring market, bringing their fabulous finds to share. Though our market is small &  intimate, you'll find wonderful inspiration and vintage-style treasures galore. We'll have music and refreshments, and even sunshine... we hope you will plan to join us!

We chose Mother's Day because our Island hosts an Artist's Studio Tour that weekend - with over 300 participating artists. You'll be able to enjoy not only our Petite Retreat, but also the scenery, the beaches, artist studio tours, wonderful shops {like Poppyseeds in Stanwood!} and perhaps even a stop at the famous Diamond Knot Brewery or Cama Beach on your day trip here. We'll have info on all of the hot spots, so you won't miss them...

Put our inaugural Petite Retreat on your calendar for May 8 & 9!
PS: Camano Island is 15 miles North of Everett,
then a short, straight 7 mile drive from I-5 across a bridge
No ferries!

Please note that our farm is open for events ONLY.
Address will be posted on our blog before the event.

{More Petite Retreat vintage seasonal markets
are planned for July, September, and November.}

Fan-Fair!

Are you on Facebook?
Help a girl out:

made a bet with her hubby.

now if she doesn't reach 500 Fans in just one more day,
she'll have to pay the piper.
And it ain't pretty:

Poor Timi
will be forced to empty the blackwater tank
from her travel trailer for the entire summer!
Now, this takes away from her time junkin'
and taking buses to great shows,

so

go Fan 'Come Junk With Us' on Facebook now!

Or Maybe Door Number Two...

That part in my last post about faith & hope?
Yeah.
Thank you, God, for answering prayers.
For providing our needs. For honoring promises.
For working miracles. Thank you.

And thank you to hearts & spirits that are open to help,
even when they don't know why, or realize they are helping.

I'll Take Door Number One...

Doors.
Just as on 'the Price is Right', we never really know
what lurks behind them
or what will be revealed when they are opened.
We wonder 'Is this is a door I should go through?',
and quote pithy verses about them,
like: 'When God closes a door, He opens a window'.

Sometimes the door just sits there, taunting you
almost daring you to open it.
And so, you do, and find something wonderful.
Lifechanging even.

The thing with doors and doorways is, you have to choose:
Stay on this side, or go through.
You can stand and look at that lovely opening and all that it leads to -
but if you don't walk forward and through to the other side,
you just might as well not have opened the door at all.

Going through that opening in the wall can mean going through a LOT.
From a philosophical perspective,
the wall is the hard stuff and going through it
is the only way to get to the other side - to the good stuff.

We threw open the danged door
and jumped into the opening.
We are in the process of going through the wall.
It's really cool on the other side, let me tell ya'...
but this part, here in the middle, well, it's hard.

That stuff about closing doors & opening windows?
Nah. He's on the other side, telling us to just keep going.
One more step, one at a time, and we'll get through.

Some walls are illness. J & C are in that doorway.
Some walls are relationships. B is in that doorway.
{I'd really like to carry them over the threshold of those doors, let me tell you}
Some walls are business situations. P is in that doorway.
Some walls are financial, and we're in that doorway.
Just tryin' to do everything we can.

Thing is, all of us - all of you, too, I suspect -
just do our best in every situation.
Whether we chose the door or it flung open in our faces,
we take those steps one at a time
and keep looking ahead to the good stuff.

Wherever you are, whatever wall you face
and whatever door is in front of you,
Have courage. Have faith.
You have company on this journey, and you can do this.
{I keep saying that to myself,
and sometimes it actually helps...}

Flea Market Style Magazine

It's OUT!!!!

Ki Nassauer just posted on her blog that copies of the new magazine 'Flea Market Style' are arriving in stores already! It wasn't supposed to release until February 23rd, but it looks like we are all getting an early Valentine's Day gift!

Merci!

Merci, Grazie, Muchas Gracias, Danke, Arigato, Mahalo, and
Go raibh mile maith agaibh!
Thank you SO MUCH to all of our wonderful friends who came to shop & say hello at Sand Point this weekend. We love seeing you and catching up with your adventures, and we appreciate your support of Retreat. Thank you for your encouraging words about our products & displays - you really have no idea how much they touch our hearts!

A lot of effort goes into Retreat - and not just the furniture & decor accessories we create & sell, but our presentation style and marketing, as well.  So many lovely people commented on our 'look' and our 'shoppe', we had to have just been beaming like idiots! {for one: Thank you Emily, and we WILL be in touch about that story for your program!} We found that our newly-designed product hangtags really did the job of educating people about what it is we do, how, and why - a big improvement over 'they paint furniture'! {ACK!} I guess we are also known for creating tents, too, hmmmmmn??!

To all of the new friends we made & wonderful people we met this weekend who are visiting here for the first time, welcome to our little world! We'll be sharing sneak peeks in the coming month of our 'secret project' {make sure you are on our mailing list!} and also of the shops that we will be delivering some of our furniture & accessories to. And that includes products heading to the BarnHouse Online Marketplace for March!

Until next time:
recycle. reimagine. redecorate. relax. Retreat!
