A Glitch in the Plan

Well....
That 'Step by Step' plan I talked about in my last post
has hit a bit of a snag.

Bob was injured while working on the barn yesterday,
and is in the hospital.

He'll be having surgery sometime this afternoon
on his lower left leg -
some tendons & muscles have been damaged
and will hopefully be able to be repaired
so that Bob can make a full recovery
and get back to his usual antics.

He's going to be laid up for awhile
and some changes will be coming to Retreat...
we're just not sure what those are yet.
We'll wait until after the surgery, prognosis, and checkup to get into that.
Right now, I just want to see
my hubby, best friend, and business partner
out of this hospital bed and back on the farm,
resting & healing.

We appreciate your thoughts and prayers,
and will let you know how everything turns out. ;0)

Edited to Add:
Bob came thru the surgery very well!
All damaged tendons were able to be repaired, so his doc
expects a full recovery in six to nine months of rehab.
Thank you for your prayers!

Step by Step

Step by Step,
we're getting everything ready
on September 18th.

Our small barns & the breezeway are being emptied & cleaned,
then filled with inspiring displays and marvelous treasures.
The fields have been hayed & mowed for parking areas.
We've gathered a wonderful group of vendors
who will help you see all of the ways to
celebrate Autumn this year
in your home decor and personal fashion.
And we've got some special treats planned for
the day of the event, too!

We'll be sharing our vendors with you
here on the blog starting next week...
stay tuned!

Milestones

Today, we celebrate 30 years of marriage and 31 years together...
high school sweethearts who beat the odds. ;0)

it was 1980, what can we say?
Gunne Sax dresses and ruffled tux shirts were IN!}

Wanna' help us reach another milestone?
We'd love to break the 1000 'fan' mark on our Retreat Facebook Page,
and we figured this was a good time to go for it.
You can help us celebrate by 'liking' us on Facebook,
and suggesting us to your Facebook friends -
click here to get there!

Photo Finish

We had the pleasure of meeting sweet Lara Blair
at the BarnHouse Flea last weekend.
On Saturday morning before the show opened,
she came by our booth,
snapped a photo of us
{Which we thought was very nice}
and then she sent it to us.

WOW!

We really like this one!
Thank you, Lara!

For more about Lara's Phabulous Photography, visit her web site.

Deb's darling apron was made by Sarah at Sweet Magnolia's Farm.
Skirt, hat, boots, & lace blouse from Goodwill ;0)
{Lots of people have asked about my outfit!}

Retreat @ BarnHouse

My friends, I'm trying to keep up with all of the online work today!
For those who don't want to go over to our Facebook album,
here's a look at our booth at BarnHouse
and some of the creations we offered:
A fabulous worktable/island and farm table
handcrafted from reclaimed materials
The commercial dishwasher racks we had went like hotcakes!
Great old dresser with metal bread pans as drawers...
this went to some of our fave Retreat 'fans'
who travel to see us at allllll of our shows!
{Thank you girls!}
More tables: an old barn door becomes a coffee table,
and old barnwood becomes a beachy picnic table.
{Yes, you COULD put glass on it!}
The vintage metal bread pans were a hot seller, as well...
and those FAB chairs with original hessian/burlap upholstery?
Still have 'em. {she shakes her head in wonderment...}
One of my original lampshades, made with vintage metal shoe stretchers.
{Yes, I know, you all wanted more lace & ribbon ones.
But I've already DONE that.
And when everyone else starts reproducing what you are doing,
then it's time to CHANGE
so you're not just part of the crowd. ;0) }

BH Show Photos Are Up!

We've just posted some of our photos from Saturday's BarnHouse show...
check them out here on our Facebook Page!
More to come...

In the meantime,
we need to thank Joe & Jermonne
from the bottoms of our hearts
for once again inviting us to be part of
the BarnHouse Family
{otherwise known as 'those barn people'!}
and this remarkable show.
The Boys truly take such good care of everyone,
from vendors to attendees to staff,
and tend to every detail.

We are in awe of their creativity and joie de vivre,
the way they create 'family' out of strangers,
and we aspire to make our future shows as much an experience
for everyone as BarnHouse is.
Thank you, Boys.
We loves ya!
